Cracked Window Glass Replacement — Parramatta
📍 Parramatta | May 2026
(Sample/template case study — replace with real customer details once a comparable job is completed.)
The Problem
Michael contacted Edy's Handyman Services after noticing a long crack had appeared across one of his living room windows following a storm. What started as a small hairline mark near the top corner had slowly spread further down the glass over a couple of weeks, and he was worried about it either shattering completely or letting water in during the next heavy rain.
"I kept an eye on it hoping it would just stay put, but it clearly wasn't going to. I didn't want to wait until it actually broke and someone got hurt."
The Fix
An on-site inspection confirmed the window frame itself was in good condition — this wasn't a job that needed a full window replacement, just the damaged glass pane itself, which meant a simpler and more affordable fix.
Work completed:
- Carefully removed the old glazing beads and eased out the cracked pane, taking care not to disturb the surrounding frame or paintwork
- Measured the opening precisely to ensure the replacement glass was cut to an exact fit
- Fitted the new pane of glass, using the correct glazing compound and beading to lock it securely in place
- Re-sealed around the edges to keep the window fully weatherproof
- Cleaned the glass and surrounding frame, and swept up all glass fragments and offcuts from the work area before leaving
Extra care was taken handling the broken glass safely throughout, including protecting nearby flooring and furniture during removal.
The Result
[BEFORE PHOTO] → [AFTER PHOTO]
The window looks and functions as good as new, with a clear, properly sealed pane back in place. What had become a daily source of stress — wondering if the glass would fail before it could be fixed — was resolved in a single visit.
"So much faster and cheaper than I expected. I thought I'd need to replace the whole window frame, but he explained it was just the glass and sorted it there and then." — Michael, Parramatta
Why This Job Mattered
A cracked window pane is more than a cosmetic issue — glass that's already compromised can fail unexpectedly under pressure, whether from wind, a bump, or simple temperature changes. Beyond the safety risk of broken glass, a damaged seal around a cracked pane can also let moisture in, leading to further damage to the frame over time.
Jobs like this are a good reminder that not every window problem means an expensive full replacement. Often, replacing just the glass is enough to fully resolve the issue — as long as it's caught and assessed properly, rather than left to worsen.
